About Us

Our Story
True North Forge is a small independent workshop based in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, run by husband and wife team G and Katie alongside family life, seven children and three dogs.
The business began in a very personal way. Katie struggled with allergies to many traditional jewellery metals, which led G to start researching and experimenting with alternative materials that were durable, comfortable and suitable for everyday wear. What began as making rings for family and friends slowly evolved into something much bigger.
Before jewellery, G worked as a mechanic before later spending nearly a decade offshore in the oil and gas industry. His background in engineering and machinery heavily shaped the workshop side of True North Forge, along with a naturally hands-on mindset and a perfectionist approach to making things properly.
Katie’s background has always centred around people, with experience in customer service, recruitment and motivational speaking.
After spending over a year learning machinery, refining techniques and teaching ourselves the processes through trial and error, our former brand, LumoBlue, officially launched in October 2020.
As the business grew, so did our vision for what we wanted True North Forge to become.
In 2024 we expanded into memorial jewellery after creating deeply personal pieces for people close to us following a tragic loss. What started as helping loved ones slowly became a meaningful part of the workshop, creating memorial rings and jewellery designed to offer comfort, remembrance and connection.
In April 2025, LumoBlue became True North Forge.
The new name reflected the direction the business had naturally grown into:
handmade craftsmanship, alternative materials, individuality and jewellery designed to carry meaning as well as beauty.
“True North” represents guidance, steadiness and staying true to your own path, while “Forge” reflects the traditional metalworking roots that remain at the centre of everything we make.
Although the name changed, the core of the business did not.
Every piece is still handmade in our Scottish workshop. Nothing is mass-produced, outsourced or imported ready-made. Every ring begins as raw material on G’s workbench before being shaped, refined and finished by hand.
We are passionate about supporting British manufacturing wherever possible and keeping our business grounded in craftsmanship rather than mass production. We use recycled and reclaimed materials where suitable, and since December 2020 all of our packaging has been fully recyclable.
Our work focuses heavily on alternative metals including Titanium, Black Zirconium and Damascus Steel alongside memorial jewellery, natural inlays and bespoke personal commissions.
At the centre of it all is a simple idea:
that handmade should still mean something.
We believe jewellery should feel personal, durable and genuinely made for the person wearing it rather than chosen from a warehouse shelf.
Even now, one of the best parts of running True North Forge is seeing the photographs, reviews and messages from customers who trusted us to create something they will wear for a lifetime.
That part never really becomes normal.
