Turning Heirloom Jewellery Into a Handmade Ring
Jewellery often carries far more than material value. A wedding ring worn for decades, a parent’s gold band, or a wedding band passed through generations can hold memories, history and meaning that deserve to continue being worn rather than sitting hidden away in a drawer.
At True North Forge, we now offer the option to incorporate your own precious metal into one of our handmade rings, transforming heirloom jewellery into something new while still carrying part of its original story.
How the Process Works
The process is designed to be simple and reassuring.
Once your order is placed, you’ll automatically receive an email explaining how to safely package and send your jewellery to the workshop.
When your jewellery arrives, we carefully assess the material before beginning work. If suitable, the precious metal is processed and transformed into wire which is then inlaid into the ring by hand.
Any unused precious metal is returned alongside the completed ring wherever possible.
What Jewellery Can Be Used?
At the moment, we can only accept plain gold metal wedding bands for this process.
Unfortunately, we cannot currently accept:
Unknown alloys
Hollow rings
Rings containing gemstones or settings
Heavily repaired or heavily soldered jewellery
While every effort is made to successfully prepare and work with your material, we cannot guarantee that every heirloom ring can be transformed into usable wire. Some issues are simply not visible until the process has begun.
If the material cannot be successfully transformed, your jewellery will be safely returned to you and all but £150 of your order refunded to cover workshop time and processing.
