Engineer’s Ring – Black Zirconium Facetted Ring

Designed for those who build, create, and solve, this Black Zirconium Engineer’s Ring reflects precision, strength, and quiet confidence.

Bold, structured, and deliberately engineered in its form, the facetted design catches the light across sharp planes, creating a clean, industrial aesthetic that feels both modern and purposeful.

Crafted with Purpose

Each ring is handmade in our Scottish workshop, with hand-cut facets finished in a satin matte texture, balanced by a polished centre line for contrast. Every piece is individually finished, meaning no two rings are ever exactly the same.

Built to Last

Made from premium jewellery-grade Black Zirconium, this ring undergoes a specialist heat treatment to form a deep, permanent black finish. Unlike plated rings, this surface will not wear away over time.

The resulting material offers ceramic-like hardness comparable to sapphire, giving exceptional resistance to scratches, fading, and daily wear.

A Ring with Meaning

This design was originally inspired by one of our customers, Simon M, an engineer whose steady approach and attention to detail shaped more than just his work. His wife affectionately named this ring “Maple,” a quiet nod to its Canadian roots and the strength it represents.

What began as a personal commission has become a lasting part of our collection, carrying the same sense of purpose, respect, and meaning.

Designed for Everyday Wear

Available in 6mm, 7mm, or 8mm widths, with UK sizes from J to Z, each ring features a comfort-fit interior for ease throughout the day.

Free engraving is included, allowing you to add a meaningful name, date, or message. A complimentary ring sizer is also provided, and we’ll hold production until your size is confirmed.

Inspired by the Engineer’s Ethos

Inspired by the traditional Engineer’s Iron Ring worn in Canada and the US, this design reflects values of responsibility, care, and pride in one’s work.

While not affiliated with any official institution, it carries that same spirit of accountability and craftsmanship.

A Subtle Statement

Traditionally worn on the pinky finger of the dominant hand, an engineer’s ring serves as a daily reminder of humility and responsibility.

This piece also works as a bold yet understated wedding band, promise ring, or personal statement for those who value durability, symbolism, and refined design.

The True North Forge Standard

Each ring is handmade in Scotland by Graeme, using carefully selected materials and traditional techniques. No mass production, no shortcuts — just considered craftsmanship built to last.

Care

To maintain the deep black finish, clean with mild soap and water and dry with a soft cloth. The heat-treated surface requires minimal maintenance and is designed for everyday wear.

Ordering & Making Your Ring

What is the best alternative metal for a wedding ring?

There is no single best metal. It depends on your preference for weight, finish and appearance. Titanium is extremely lightweight, Damascus Steel features unique layered patterns, Black Zirconium offers a deep black finish and Stainless Steel provides strength with a classic silver tone. You can compare all options in our Alternative Metal Wedding Rings Guide.

What is the thickness of the ring?

Our rings are crafted with an approximate thickness of 2 mm. This provides a balanced feel that is substantial enough for durability while remaining comfortable for everyday wear. Each ring is shaped and finished by hand, so there may be very slight variations, but all are designed to maintain a consistent and comfortable profile.

How can I check my size before ordering?

There are several ways to confirm your size: you can be measured at any jeweller and ask for the internal diameter, order a ring gauge yourself and let us know the result, use a ring that already fits and send it to us, or request one of our free ring sizers at checkout.
We’ll confirm any sizing details with you before we begin

Is engraving included?

Engraving is always free. We can add names, dates, or even your own handwriting inside your wedding ring. To know more about handwriting engraving, take a look at this blog. . If the option is showing on the product listing, it is engravable.

Who actually makes my ring?

Every ring is made to order in our Scottish workshop by hand by Graeme, or G as he is known. We don’t outsource production or hold bulk stock. Your ring is crafted individually once your order is placed, then finished, checked and prepared for dispatch.
