Damascus Steel Ring with Opal Inlay

Crafted from genuine Damascus steel and set with a vibrant opal inlay, this ring combines the flowing character of layered steel with the colour and light of crushed opal. The result is a ring that feels both distinctive and refined, balancing natural movement with striking visual detail.

Each ring is handmade to order in our Scottish workshop by Graeme and crafted specifically to your chosen size.

A vibrant inlay with natural character

At the centre of the band sits a fine 1mm or statement 2mm inlay channel, carefully filled by hand using crushed opal and sealed beneath a clear, durable finish. The opal catches the light from different angles, creating flashes of colour and depth that contrast beautifully against the darker tones of the Damascus steel.

Because the opal is placed by hand, every ring displays its own unique arrangement of colour and texture. No two will ever be exactly the same.

Choose your Damascus pattern

Not sure which Damascus pattern is right for you? We have created a dedicated guide explaining the differences between Esk, Bervie, Crynoch, Findon, Cowie and Dee, complete with photos and pattern comparisons.

Read our Damascus Pattern Guide HERE

Esk features tight, condensed twists that create a dense flowing grain.

Bervie displays bold woodgrain-style ripples with strong movement throughout the pattern.

Crynoch combines flowing lines and softer curves for a more organic appearance.

Findon is characterised by strong vertical grain lines that run consistently around the band.

Cowie forms intricate concentric circles that create striking visual detail.

Dee reveals irregular circular waves and natural movement, ensuring every ring feels entirely individual.

No two Damascus rings will ever be identical, making each piece unique.

Unsure which opal and base colour to choose?

The same opal can appear very different depending on the base colour beneath it. Dark bases often create stronger contrast and depth, while lighter bases can produce a brighter, more vibrant appearance.

Our Opal & Base Colour Guide explains how different combinations work and showcases examples to help you choose with confidence.

Profile options

This ring is available in your choice of court or flat profile.

The court profile offers a traditional, gently rounded shape with exceptional comfort, while the flat profile provides clean modern lines and a more contemporary appearance. Both styles showcase the flowing Damascus pattern and vibrant opal inlay beautifully.

Crafted to endure

Each ring is created using a high-quality blend of 304L and 316L stainless steels. The result is a durable Damascus steel designed for everyday wear, offering excellent corrosion resistance alongside the distinctive layered appearance that makes Damascus so recognisable.

The ring is completely nickel free, suitable for sensitive skin and designed not to tarnish or discolour your finger over time.

Handmade to order

Every ring is handmade by Graeme in our Scottish workshop and crafted specifically to your chosen size.

You can personalise your ring through your choice of Damascus pattern, opal colour, profile, finish, width and engraving.

Engraving can be added to the inside of the band. When selected, the interior of the ring is polished before engraving to ensure a clear inscription and comfortable finish against the skin.

Care

Your ring requires only simple care. Occasional cleaning with mild soap and water and drying with a soft cloth will keep it looking its best.

Ordering & Making Your Ring

What is the best alternative metal for a wedding ring?

There is no single best metal. It depends on your preference for weight, finish and appearance. Titanium is extremely lightweight, Damascus Steel features unique layered patterns, Black Zirconium offers a deep black finish and Stainless Steel provides strength with a classic silver tone. You can compare all options in our Alternative Metal Wedding Rings Guide.

What is the thickness of the ring?

Our rings are crafted with an approximate thickness of 2 mm. This provides a balanced feel that is substantial enough for durability while remaining comfortable for everyday wear. Each ring is shaped and finished by hand, so there may be very slight variations, but all are designed to maintain a consistent and comfortable profile.

How can I check my size before ordering?

There are several ways to confirm your size: you can be measured at any jeweller and ask for the internal diameter, order a ring gauge yourself and let us know the result, use a ring that already fits and send it to us, or request one of our free ring sizers at checkout.
