Deveron Rounded Hammered Black Zirconium Ring
The Deveron combines deep Black Zirconium with our distinctive rounded hammered pattern, creating an individually textured surface that changes as the ring catches the light.
Each ring is hammered by hand by Graeme, with individual rounded marks worked across the surface before the Zirconium receives its characteristic black finish. Subtle variations in the size, depth and position of the hammer marks develop naturally during making, meaning no two Deveron rings will have exactly the same surface pattern.
Handmade to order in our Scottish workshop, the Deveron brings together the depth of Black Zirconium with a texture that makes each finished ring individually its own.
A Rounded Hammered Pattern
The defining feature of the Deveron is its rounded hammering.
Individual marks are worked across the flat outer profile, creating overlapping facets rather than a uniform or directional pattern. As the ring moves, these changing surfaces catch the light differently, bringing variation and depth to the black surface.
Because the pattern is created by hand, your finished ring will retain the same overall character as the examples shown while having its own natural variation.
What is Black Zirconium?
Zirconium begins as a naturally silver-grey metal.
During the making process, the ring is carefully heat treated. This causes the outer surface of the Zirconium to react with oxygen and form a hard, black zirconium oxide layer.
Unlike paint or plating, the black surface is created from the Zirconium itself rather than being applied as a separate coating.
On the Deveron, this deep black surface follows the individual contours of the hammered pattern, allowing light to move differently across each facet.
Your Choice of Finish
The Deveron is available in polished or satin finish, each giving the hammered Black Zirconium a different appearance.
A polished finish creates stronger reflections across the individual hammer marks, emphasising the changing facets and giving the black surface greater contrast and movement.
A satin finish softens those reflections, creating a more muted black appearance while keeping the rounded hammered texture clearly visible.
Built for Everyday Wear
Black Zirconium is lightweight, corrosion resistant and well suited to everyday jewellery.
The black zirconium oxide surface is extremely hard and, because it isn't a plated finish, it will not simply peel or flake away.
However, no jewellery material is impervious to wear. Black Zirconium can develop surface marks over time, and sufficiently deep scratches or impacts can expose the natural grey Zirconium beneath the black surface.
Removing your ring for heavy lifting, abrasive work or high-impact activities will help preserve its appearance.

Every Deveron Black Zirconium Ring is handmade by Graeme in our Scottish workshop and crafted specifically to your chosen size, width and finish.
Available in sizes up to Z+6, including half sizes.
Engraving can be added to the inside of the band if selected.
Care
Clean your Black Zirconium ring using mild soap and warm water before drying thoroughly with a soft cloth.
Avoid abrasive cleaning products or harsh chemicals and remove the ring before activities likely to cause heavy impact or abrasion.

What is the best alternative metal for a wedding ring?
There is no single best metal. It depends on your preference for weight, finish and appearance. Titanium is extremely lightweight, Damascus Steel features unique layered patterns, Black Zirconium offers a deep black finish and Stainless Steel provides strength with a classic silver tone. What is the thickness of the ring?
Our rings are crafted with an approximate thickness of 2 mm. This provides a balanced feel that is substantial enough for durability while remaining comfortable for everyday wear. Each ring is shaped and finished by hand, so there may be very slight variations, but all are designed to maintain a consistent and comfortable profile.
How can I check my size before ordering?
There are several ways to confirm your size: you can be measured at any jeweller and ask for the internal diameter, order a ring gauge yourself and let us know the result, use a ring that already fits and send it to us, or request one of our free ring sizers at checkout.

What happens after I place my order?
After you order, we review your details and begin crafting your ring. If anything needs clarifying, we’ll contact you directly. Once complete, your ring is carefully packaged and sent via tracked UK delivery. You’ll receive tracking details as soon as it’s dispatched.
How long does it take to make a ring?
Most rings are ready within 2–3 weeks, but we recommend allowing 4 weeks before your wedding. Need it faster? Just let us know.
Is engraving included?
Engraving is always free. We can add names, dates, or even your own handwriting inside your wedding ring. To know more about handwriting engraving, take a look at this blog. . If the option is showing on the product listing, it is engravable.
Who actually makes my ring?
Every ring is made to order in our Scottish workshop by hand by Graeme, or G as he is known. We don’t outsource production or hold bulk stock. Your ring is crafted individually once your order is placed, then finished, checked and prepared for dispatch.
What are your return policies?
Because each ring is made to order in your chosen size and finish, returns are not available once production begins. We provide a complimentary ring sizer before crafting to ensure a confident fit.
