Superconductor Obsidian Cut Ring

Crafted from genuine Superconductor cable, this ring brings together one of the most remarkable engineering materials ever developed with traditional craftsmanship. Originally created for use in powerful superconducting magnets, Superconductor was never intended to become jewellery, making every ring an extraordinary fusion of science, engineering and handmade design.

Handmade to order in our Scottish workshop, each ring is individually crafted by Graeme and finished by hand.

A remarkable material

Superconductor is manufactured by bonding hundreds of titanium-niobium rods within a solid copper matrix. When the material is cut, angled and finished, those rods reveal the intricate geometric pattern that makes every ring completely unique.

No two sections of cable are identical, meaning every ring carries its own distinctive arrangement of copper and titanium-niobium. It is a material that simply cannot be replicated.

Crafted by hand

Each ring begins as a solid section of genuine Superconductor cable before being carefully machined, shaped and acid etched to reveal its remarkable internal structure.

The distinctive Obsidian Cut profile enhances both the depth of the pattern and the contrast between the copper and titanium-niobium, creating a design that continues to reveal new detail every time it catches the light.

Best suited to occasional wear

Superconductor contains a high proportion of copper, which naturally reacts with moisture, air and the oils found on your skin.

To improve comfort and help slow this natural process, every ring is protected with a specialist clear coating that acts as a barrier between the material and your skin. Like any protective finish, this coating will gradually wear over time and can be reapplied when required. Details of the coating used are provided with every ring.

Because of the reactive nature of copper, we recommend Superconductor as an occasional or special occasion ring rather than one intended for continuous everyday wear.

Over time, the exposed copper may naturally develop a patina. This is an inherent characteristic of the material and part of what makes every Superconductor ring unique.

A truly individual piece

No two Superconductor rings will ever be the same. Every cut through the cable reveals a completely different pattern, making each ring entirely individual.

Please note that due to the nature of the material, this ring cannot be engraved.

Ordering & Making Your Ring

What is the best alternative metal for a wedding ring?

There is no single best metal. It depends on your preference for weight, finish and appearance. Titanium is extremely lightweight, Damascus Steel features unique layered patterns, Black Zirconium offers a deep black finish and Stainless Steel provides strength with a classic silver tone. You can compare all options in our Alternative Metal Wedding Rings Guide.

What is the thickness of the ring?

Our rings are crafted with an approximate thickness of 2 mm. This provides a balanced feel that is substantial enough for durability while remaining comfortable for everyday wear. Each ring is shaped and finished by hand, so there may be very slight variations, but all are designed to maintain a consistent and comfortable profile.

How can I check my size before ordering?

There are several ways to confirm your size: you can be measured at any jeweller and ask for the internal diameter, order a ring gauge yourself and let us know the result, use a ring that already fits and send it to us, or request one of our free ring sizers at checkout.
We’ll confirm any sizing details with you before we begin

Who actually makes my ring?

Every ring is made to order in our Scottish workshop by hand by Graeme, or G as he is known. We don’t outsource production or hold bulk stock. Your ring is crafted individually once your order is placed, then finished, checked and prepared for dispatch.
