Superconductor Obsidian Cut Ring
Angular surfaces give the Obsidian Cut ring its distinctive appearance, bringing out the contrasting geometry of genuine superconductor cable. Each band is machined, etched and finished by Graeme in our Aberdeenshire workshop.
Engineering material with an individual pattern
The cable contains titanium-niobium filaments in a copper matrix. Cutting and finishing the material reveals a pattern unique to each section; the Obsidian Cut shape changes how that structure catches the light.
Obsidian Cut profile
Rather than a conventional flat or rounded band, this design uses an angular cut to create facets and contrast across the surface. The ring is made to your selected size and finished by hand.
Protective finish and care
Superconductor contains reactive copper. A specialist clear coating helps protect the surface and creates a barrier against the skin, but may need reapplication with use. Exposed copper can develop a patina. We recommend occasional or special-occasion wear rather than continuous everyday use. Clean with a soft dry cloth and avoid prolonged exposure to water, harsh chemicals and abrasives.

Processing superconductor takes longer than our usual making time. This ring cannot be engraved. A free ring sizer and tracked UK delivery are included.

What is the best alternative metal for a wedding ring?
There is no single best metal. It depends on your preference for weight, finish and appearance. Titanium is extremely lightweight, Damascus Steel features unique layered patterns, Black Zirconium offers a deep black finish and Stainless Steel provides strength with a classic silver tone. What is the thickness of the ring?
Our rings are crafted with an approximate thickness of 2 mm. This provides a balanced feel that is substantial enough for durability while remaining comfortable for everyday wear. Each ring is shaped and finished by hand, so there may be very slight variations, but all are designed to maintain a consistent and comfortable profile.
How can I check my size before ordering?
There are several ways to confirm your size: you can be measured at any jeweller and ask for the internal diameter, order a ring gauge yourself and let us know the result, use a ring that already fits and send it to us, or request one of our free ring sizers at checkout.

What happens after I place my order?
After you order, we review your details and begin crafting your ring. If anything needs clarifying, we’ll contact you directly. Once complete, your ring is carefully packaged and sent via tracked UK delivery. You’ll receive tracking details as soon as it’s dispatched.
How long does it take to make a ring?
Most rings are ready within 2–3 weeks, but we recommend allowing 4 weeks before your wedding. Need it faster? Just let us know.
Is engraving included?
Engraving is always free. We can add names, dates, or even your own handwriting inside your wedding ring. To know more about handwriting engraving, take a look at this blog. . If the option is showing on the product listing, it is engravable.
Who actually makes my ring?
Every ring is made to order in our Scottish workshop by hand by Graeme, or G as he is known. We don’t outsource production or hold bulk stock. Your ring is crafted individually once your order is placed, then finished, checked and prepared for dispatch.
What are your return policies?
Because each ring is made to order in your chosen size and finish, returns are not available once production begins. We provide a complimentary ring sizer before crafting to ensure a confident fit.
